If you believe the industry hype, river cruising is riding the rocket of small ship and adventure products in a rapidly growing cruise market. I tend to agree. The anecdotal evidence points to more travellers seeking out products away from the traditional sea and coastal routes and looking inland to the great waterways.

French Country Waterways announced a new program called “Casual Cruising” for 2010 aboard its 18-passenger luxury barge Esprit. “We understand that in today’s economy, some of our guests would prefer to have a few less inclusions and reduce their costs, so we have introduced a program that makes some minor changes in our regular program and passes those savings on to the passenger,” said President Glenn Carr.
